Binsar is a scenic hill station located in the Kumaon region Uttarakhand. It is well known for its amazing views of Panchulli, Kedarnath, Nanda Devi, and Chaukhamba Peak. Binsar was earlier the part of the Chand Dynasty and was their summer capital from the 9th Century to the 18th Century.  Binsar name was made of “Bina” and “Sar” which means without head in Hindi. It is said that once there was battle happened with the “Golu Devta (local deity)” and the king of Binsar and due to some suspicion, Golu Devta was beheaded and his trunk was fell at Gairad Dana Golu, a place near the Wildlife Sanctuary and the head was fell at Kaparkahan, and after that the temple was made at both place and this place was named to Binsar.

Weather of Binsar

Binsar is the hill station that can be visited throughout the year and you can easily plan a trip to Binsar any time in the year because of pleasant weather which goes between 0 to 30 degrees.

Starting from January and February the weather is cold and some time goes to 0 Degrees, so if you are planning to visit Binsar in the winter season then keep woolen clothes with you.  The snowfall is also one of the great attractions here during the winter season.

Mar to April is pleasant weather moderately cold and great weather to spend your holidays here.


May to June is summertime so the days are warm and hot but during the night you will enjoy the cold weather, which is best in the summer season.

July to August is monsoon and its heavy rainfall here sometimes, so you can avoid it during the monsoon.

By Air: – The nearest airport is Pantnagar Airport; it is located at a distance of 127 Km.  There are some flights available from Chandigarh and Delhi to Pantnagar. You can take a cab or Bus from Pantnagar to Binsar.

By Trains: – The nearest railhead is Kathgodam, which is located at a distance of 120 Km and well connected with multicity railway networks.

By Roads:- Binsar is well connected with road transport and you can take buses from Delhi ISBT to Almora, Ranikhet, Kausani and then take share taxis to reach Binsar. Almora is 30 Km and Nainital is 96 Km from Binsar. If you are driving from Delhi which is 410 Km and takes around 12-13 hours to reach.
