At Badrinath you can book special pujas directly with the Shri Badrinath–Kedarnath Temple Committee (BKTC). The two most popular are the early-morning Mahabhishek and Abhishek pujas, which let a small number of devotees attend the ritual near the sanctum before general darshan opens. Bookings are made on the official BKTC website or at the temple office counter in Badrinath.
This guide lists the main pujas, their official fees, timings and how to book without paying middlemen.
How to book a puja at Badrinath
Option 1: Online on the BKTC website
- Go to the official site badrinath-kedarnath.gov.in.
- Open the puja booking section and choose Shri Badrinath.
- Select the puja, date and number of people.
- Fill in the name and gotra of the devotee(s) and your contact details.
- Pay online. Save the receipt as a PDF and keep a printout.
- Report at the temple office in Badrinath the day before the puja to confirm your reporting time.
Popular morning pujas in May, June and October sell out early. Book as soon as you fix your travel dates.
Option 2: At the temple office in Badrinath
You can also book at the BKTC counter near the temple, if slots are free. This works well outside the peak season. Carry an ID and cash or UPI.
Be careful of fake sellers
Only the BKTC website and counter issue official puja receipts. Fees go to the temple committee. Anyone selling "VIP puja" or "guaranteed darshan" at extra cost is not authorised. If you pay a fake website, call the cyber helpline 1930 at once.
Badrinath puja list and official fees

Other rituals at Badrinath
Tapt Kund bath. Most pilgrims bathe in the hot spring below the temple before darshan. It is free.
Pind daan at Brahma Kapal. Brahma Kapal, on the bank of the Alaknanda near the temple, is considered one of the holiest places for pind daan and shraddh for ancestors. It is done by local pandas (priests). Fees are not fixed by BKTC, so agree the dakshina before you start.
Mata Murti and Mana village. Many devotees visit Mata Murti Temple and Mana, the last village before the Tibet border, 3 km from Badrinath.
Tips for a smooth puja
- Reach Badrinath a day earlier. Do not plan a 4:30 am puja on the day you arrive from Haridwar.
- Bathe and dress traditionally. Men usually wear dhoti–kurta or kurta–pyjama, women a saree or suit.
- Carry warm clothes. At 4 am in Badrinath (3,133 m), even in June, it can be 5°C or colder.
- No phones in the sanctum. Photos and videos are not allowed inside.
- Keep your receipt and ID ready at the gate.
