In August 2025, a flash flood in the Kheer Ganga River caused serious damage to Dharali village near Harsil. Road connectivity was restored by late August 2025, and the area has since reopened to tourism, but conditions along this stretch of the Gangotri highway can still shift with weather. We check current road advisories before every departure and route accordingly — ask us for the latest status when you enquire.
Harsil offers a different side of Uttarakhand. Instead of spending the entire trip around crowded commercial areas, you can stay in the valley and explore the villages, forests and river surroundings at a slower pace.
The route also makes Harsil useful as an extension to a Gangotri trip. Travelers can combine a Harsil stay with Gangotri Dham and nearby attractions depending on road and weather conditions.

Bhaironghati lies farther up the Gangotri route and is known for its deep Himalayan gorge and dramatic mountain scenery.
It was an ancient route to Tibbet from Uttarkashi and also known for trade route earlier time. As of now it becomes one of the top places to visit in Harsil Valley, known for its wooden trek route.
Lamatop Trek is about 2 Kms from Harsil Valley, and it reaches to about 2900m with moderate trek. It takes about 1-1.5 hrs to reach and you can see the 360 Degree view of Garhwal Himalayas, Bhagirathi River and various peaks from here.

Start from Haridwar and drive towards Uttarkashi. Check in at the hotel and rest after the mountain journey.
Continue towards Harsil through the Bhagirathi Valley. On arrival, check in and spend the evening exploring the village and riverside area.
Visit Dharali and Mukhba and enjoy a relaxed day around the valley. Depending on conditions, local walks can be added.
Drive to Gangotri for temple darshan and sightseeing. Return to Harsil or continue according to the selected itinerary.

Morning Pickup from Haridwar Railway Station/ Bus Stand or Dehradun airport and then leave for Harsil Valley, it's about 7-8 Hours journey, on the way you can visit Kashi Viswanath temple in Uttarkashi.
