Before you book anything for Haridwar Kumbh 2027, two things are worth knowing. The Mela period and the bathing dates are not the same thing. And the sources do not agree on how many Amrit Snans there are.
Here is what we found, and where each piece comes from.
The short answer
- Mela period: 1 January to 30 April 2027, according to a Lok Bhavan Uttarakhand press note dated 30 September 2026.
- Bathing festivals: ten, same note.
- Amrit Snans: the September note says four. An earlier April report said three.
- Date-by-date list of the four: we have not found one in a primary document. So, we do not guess.

What the latest official update says
The most recent official source we could find is the Lok Bhavan Uttarakhand note of 30 September 2026. It says the Mela will run from 1 January to 30 April 2027 and mentions ten bathing festivals, including four Amrit Snans. It does not list the dates of those four.
The earlier Snan list
You will see Amrit Snan dates on many websites. They are copied from different announcements made in different months, so they do not all match.
This table follows the calendar the Mela administration shared in April 2026, as reported by PTI on 15 April. We use it because it names its source and its date. The latest official note (30 September) says there are four Amrit Snans but does not list them, so one date in your plan could still change. Check back here before you pay anything you cannot get back.
| Date (2027) | Occasion | Marked as Amrit Snan in April report? |
|---|---|---|
| 14 January | Makar Sankranti | No |
| 6 February | Mauni Amavasya | No |
| 11 February | Basant Panchami | No |
| 20 February | Magh Purnima | No |
| 6 March | Mahashivratri | Yes |
| 8 March | Phalguna Amavasya | Yes |
| 7 April | Nav Samvatsar | No |
| 14 April | Mesh Sankranti | Yes |
| 15 April | Ram Navami (as per Ganga Sabha reporting) | No |
| 20 April | Chaitra Purnima | No, last date in that list |
Look at the first and last rows. 14 January is the first bathing date in this list and 20 April is the last. But the Mela itself, per the September note, runs from 1 January to 30 April. Those are two different things, and mixing them up is the most common mistake on travel websites.
Why do some sites say three Amrit Snans and others four?
Because the sources were published at different times:
- A March report on the Ganga Sabha calendar listed four.
- The April report from the Mela administration listed three.
- A July report on the Juna Akhara programme named three.
- The September official press note says four again, but without dates.
We have not found a newer official document that settles which date is the fourth. If your trip depends on one particular Amrit Snan, do not rely on a travel website repeating a date. Check the latest official notice before you pay a non-refundable amount and check this page again.
How to choose your date
If you must be there for a particular snan, plan around it. Arrive before the main day, not on the morning of it, and leave a buffer after. How much buffer depends on where you are coming from and what restrictions are in force. There is no government rule that says, "arrive two days early." That is just sensible planning.
If your dates are flexible, ask yourself what you care about most: an easy hotel approach, fewer transfers, or a rest day. We can plan for any of those. What we cannot do is promise you a quiet day. Nobody can.
What this means for your booking
- Book with clear date-change terms in writing.
- Ask your hotel and travel agent what happens if a date moves.
- Come back here before the final payment.
If you want us to look at a hotel and travel plan for your preferred dates, send us your dates.
