About Dhanaulti Eco Park

Dhanaulti Eco Park is a forest recreation area set among deodar and oak trees at about 2,200 m. It was developed by the forest department to protect the trees and give visitors a clean, quiet place to walk. It is the best-known stop in Dhanaulti and works well for families, couples and anyone who wants a gentle nature break from Mussoorie.

There are eco huts, swings and a children's playground, a small yoga centre and an interpretation centre that explains the local forest. Some viewpoints give views of the Himalayan peaks. Visitors are encouraged to plant a sapling in memory of someone, a tradition that adds to the park's feel.

Activities

  • Forest walk along the shaded trails.
  • Sky walk and flying fox, when operating.
  • Rock climbing and rope activities under supervision.
  • Children's play area with swings and slides.

How to reach

Dhanaulti is about 25 to 30 km from Mussoorie and around 60 km from Dehradun, and the drive is scenic. From Rishikesh it is about 2 hours, and from Haridwar around 3 hours. The park is a short drive from the main Dhanaulti market. We can arrange the route with our Haridwar to Dehradun taxi and local sightseeing.

Best time to visit

September to June is the best period, with pleasant weather and clear skies. Winter brings cold and sometimes snow, which can close the road at short notice. The monsoon makes the forest green but wet. Visit early or near sunset for soft light and fewer people.

Tips

  1. Carry a jacket, as Dhanaulti is cooler than Mussoorie.
  2. Do not bring pets, as they are not allowed inside.
  3. Keep the park clean and take litter with you.
  4. Wear shoes with a grip for forest trails.
  5. Avoid people who offer random medicines or treatments.
  6. Check road conditions in winter.

Nearby places

Surkanda Devi Temple is a short drive away, and Mussoorie Lake and Kempty Falls lie on the way. See our Dhanaulti destination page for more.
