About the temple
Pawan Dham is run by a charitable trust and is one of the more modern temples of Haridwar. The glasswork covers pillars, arches and ceilings, so each hall looks different when the light changes. The idols are dressed and decorated in bright colours, and the walls carry scenes from Hindu stories. Because the temple is not tied to one festival, it is open and calm on most days.
What to see
- The main hall with decorated idols of the gods.
- Mirror and glass mosaics on the walls and ceilings.
- Small shrines in the courtyard.
- The garden area, a quiet spot to sit for a few minutes.
Best time to visit
Daylight shows the glasswork best because sunlight reflects across the halls. Mid-morning is a good time to visit. October to March is comfortable. In summer, go early or late in the day. Festival evenings bring lights and music but also crowds.
How to reach
Pawan Dham is on the Haridwar to Rishikesh side of the city. An auto or cab from the railway station takes about 20 minutes. Most travellers combine it with Bharat Mata Mandir and Shantikunj, which are close by.
